Our Amazon Conservation Project
Our Amazon Conservation Project is dedicated to protecting and preserving the unique ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest. Through sustainable practices and community involvement, we work to conserve the incredible biodiversity of the region and promote a healthier planet for generations to come.
"Nature is not just a job for me, it's a passion. I have spent my life exploring the Amazon rainforest and I am excited to share my knowledge and love for this incredible ecosystem with our guests at the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center."
Giving Back to Nature & Community
The Cuyabeno Wildlife Center isn’t just a lodge – it’s a community-driven initiative born out of a desire to create a sustainable future for the Amazon rainforest and its people. As two local guides who have worked in the reserve for years, we knew that tourism could be a powerful tool for conservation and community development.
That’s why we founded the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center Lodge as the only community-based travel initiative in the entire reserve. Today, we are proud to have 44 members of the local community working with and for us, sharing their knowledge, skills, and culture with our visitors.
When you stay with us at the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center, you’re not just experiencing the wonders of the Amazon – you’re also supporting the local community and contributing to the protection of this precious ecosystem. It’s a win-win situation that we’re passionate about promoting and growing for years to come.
Conservation Today for a Better Tomorrow
What Needs Protecting
The Cuyabeno Reserve is a protected area in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest that spans over 603,000 hectares. It is home to an incredibly diverse array of flora and fauna, including many endangered species such as the pink river dolphin and the giant otter. The reserve’s pristine wetlands, rivers, and forests also provide important ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water filtration, and soil conservation.
At the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center, we are committed to the conservation of the Cuyabeno Reserve and its precious biodiversity. We work closely with the local community to ensure that they benefit from tourism in a way that is sustainable and culturally respectful.
Through our conservation efforts, we aim to protect the Cuyabeno Reserve from illegal hunting, deforestation, and other threats. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for the Amazon Rainforest and the communities that depend on it.
